About of the Building Bridges for Inclusive Education Project
Building Bridges for Inclusive Education Project is funded by Civil Society Dialogue V Grant Scheme of European Union. It is coordinated by Spastic Children’s Foundation of Turkey – Cerebral Palsy Turkey. Praxis Europe from UK and Inclusion Support Center (IDEM) from Croatia are the co-applicants of the project. The Governorship of Istanbul is participating the Project as an associate partner.
Our goal is,
To improve the quality of inclusive education implementations in Turkey and to ensure
cooperation and the enrichment of the dialogue between NGOs operation in Turkey and in EU in the field of disability and education.
Our objective is,
To establish an effective dialogue between all stakeholders of the system and improve the
capacity of stakeholders to reduce early school drop-out rates of inclusive education in
Turkey.
The target groups of our project are,
Guidance and psychological counseling teachers, branch teachers, administrators working in formal education institutions and NGOs in the field of disability and education. Our project is carried out in Istanbul, Birmingham, Zagreb and also 10 different cities in Turkey.
Why do we carry out this project?
We aim to establish successful dialogue mechanisms in order to support the students and their families by improving the capacity of all stakeholders to lower the early school drop-out rates of students who are enrolled in inclusive education. At the same time development of stable and sustainable dialogue mechanism between the NGOs operating in the same area from Turkey and EU will be supported.
What are we doing?
In line with the goal and purpose of our project, we designed our activities in 4 areas.
Turkey Research Report: A research report will investigate the causes of early school leaving in students who are enrolled in inclusive education in Turkey will be prepared.
Capacity Building for Teachers: A training will be designed to improve the capacities of guidance and psychological counseling teachers, a study visit to United Kingdom will be held with these teachers for good practice model review and teachers will be given consultancy to establish more sound and structured dialogue with their students in
their schools during the process.
Capacity Building for NGOs: A training will be designed so that NGOs operating in this field can support families and individuals with different development needs more efficiently, and a study visit to Croatia will be organized for good practicece model review with these NGOs. In addition, campaign management trainings will be given to NGOs.
Awareness Raising: A national and local campaigns will be carried out on inclusion / integration practices. During the process, awareness raising activities will be organized for teachers.
